STORMIN' UP WHITNEY, AND LIMPING DOWN

one of the disadvantages of marrying someone almost 10 years older than you is that they've already experienced a lot of life before they got with you. while it's true that nathan had a lot of adventures before me he's been really good about introducing me to things he enjoys, such as good food, climbing, deal hounding, etc.

summiting mt. whitney (the tallest peak in the continental U.S. at approx 14,500 feet) was my maiden voyage into the world of serious hiking. nate's already done kili so i can take that off my list.

i was very proud of myself for not getting altitude sickness. nathan, on the other hand, got it pretty bad and didn't recover for several days. it was a great trip with natalie, jp, and chris. took us 12 hours to get up - 8 of which were a piece of cake - and 8 hours to get down. by the end of the gruesome trip back down in pitch black darkness we were convinced that we had been conquered by lady whitney, but we survived....barely

FIRST TIME BLOGGER

it's 11:30 on a saturday evening. nathan's upstairs watching some film and i'm tinkering around on the computer. i don't know why but in the last two days i've gotten way into following blogs and looking up discussion forums. of course i'm way late to the game but oh well....always a first for everything. i wonder if i'll be diligent in keeping this thing current. only time will tell.
